How much does it cost to 3D print a helmet?

A wearable cosplay helmet costs about $8 to $33 to 3D print in PLA (polylactic acid): 400 g to 1.6 kg of filament and 13 to 55 hours of printing. Putty, primer and paint add about $41, and a paid model file $10 to $20. Two published Iron Man suit builds used 10 to 14 kg of filament, $200 to $280 before paint.

How much does it cost to 3D print a helmet?

A full-size wearable helmet costs $8 to $33 in filament and electricity. MakerWorld print profiles for Mandalorian, clone trooper, stormtrooper and Master Chief helmets use 403 g to 1,587 g of PLA over 13 to 55 hours. At $19.99 per kilogram that is $8.06 to $31.72 of filament, plus $0.26 to $1.07 of electricity.

The $19.99 is Polymaker’s US price for a 1 kg spool of PolyLite PLA. The 105 W is Bambu Lab’s measured average for a P1S printing PLA. The 18.31 cents per kWh is the US average residential price for July 2026 from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Grams and hours are the slicer estimates shown on each profile.

The profile matters as much as the helmet. 3Z3D’s Mandalorian profile prints with 2 walls and 8% infill and uses 403 g. Titan3DPrintingAU’s prints with 3 walls and 15% infill and uses 794 g. PNTBND’s Iron Man profile takes 39.8 hours for 518 g because it prints at 0.12 mm layers.

Print a fit ring before the full helmet. Titan’s fit test takes 13 g and 0.8 hours, against 23.2 hours for a helmet that turns out too small.

A wearable face mask costs about $2.50 to $10 to 3D print in PLA. Free MakerWorld masks use 121 g to 477 g of filament over 4.7 to 19.9 hours. A half mask sits at the bottom of that range. A full-face mask printed in several parts sits at the top.

How much does it cost to 3D print a full suit of armor?

A full wearable suit costs about $200 to $280 in PLA and $6 to $11 in electricity. Two published Iron Man builds used 10 to 14 one-kilogram spools. Model files add $30 to $150, plus paint and straps. One builder’s Mark 85 suit came to $461 without the printer, electronics included.

How much does it cost to 3D print an Iron Man suit?

How much would it cost to 3D print clone trooper armor?

No designer we found publishes a filament total for a full clone trooper suit. The helmet alone takes 790 g to 1,587 g in the profiles above, $16 to $33 to print. Galactic Armory sells its Phase 2 Clone Trooper Armor files for $29.99, helmet included.
