Creality printer voltage: Ender 3, Ender 3 V3 and K1 input ratings

Every Creality printer runs on a standard US 120 V outlet. Ender 3 models and the K1 and K1C have a 115/230 V switch that ships at 230 V. Move it to 115 V before you plug in. The K1 Max, K2 and K2 Plus accept 100 to 240 V automatically.

Creality printers run on household alternating current (AC): 100 to 120 V in the US, 200 to 240 V in Europe. Inside, the power supply converts it to 24 V direct current (DC) on every Ender model where Creality publishes the figure. Most Ender and K1 models have a 115/230 V switch that ships set to 230 V. In the US, move it to 115 V before you plug in.

What voltage do Creality printers use?

Creality printers accept 100 to 120 V or 200 to 240 V AC from the wall. The Ender 3 line, K1 and K1C pick the range with a 115/230 V switch that ships at 230 V. The K1 Max, K2 and K2 Plus take 100 to 240 V with no switch. Ender models run on 24 V DC inside.

The table gives each model’s input and rated power from Creality’s manuals and spec pages. “Not published” means Creality doesn’t state the figure there.

Amps come from the rated power:

amps = watts ÷ volts
350 W ÷ 120 V = 2.9 A
1,200 W ÷ 120 V = 10 A

The rated figure is a peak. Once the bed is hot, the printer draws less: the Ender 3 power consumption and K1C power consumption articles give measured watts. The K2 manual lists two ratings, 1,350 W at 220 V and 450 W at 110 V, and Creality doesn’t explain the gap.

What voltage does an Ender 3 use?

An Ender 3 runs on a 120 V US outlet with its power supply switch set to 115 V. Its parts run on 24 V DC. The Ender-3 V2 manual lists “Input: AC 115/230V 50/60Hz, Output: DC 24V” and 350 W total power. The V3 SE, V3 and S1 wiring diagrams show a DC 24V heated bed.

The 24 V rail matters when you replace parts. A replacement fan or heater cartridge for an Ender 3 must be rated for 24 V, because a 12 V part on that rail sees twice its rated voltage. 3D printer fan voltage covers fans in detail. If you’re adding a bigger bed or extra fans, the power supply calculator adds up the new load.

Which Creality printers have a 115/230 V switch?

Creality’s manuals tell you to set a power supply switch on these models:

  • Ender-3 and Ender-3 Pro: “Select the correct input voltage to match your local mains (230V or 115V).”
  • Ender-3 V2: “Select the correct input voltage to match your local mains (115/230V).” The same box warns: “Damage can occur if voltage is set incorrectly.”
  • Ender-3 S1, V3 SE, V3 KE and V3: “If the mains between 100V and 120V, please select the 115V for the power supply switch.” On the V3, the switch (Creality calls it the “voltage regulation gear”) sits on the left side of the base, seen from below.
  • K1 and K1C: the same instruction, done “with a straight screwdriver” (a flat-head).

The K1 Max, K2 and K2 Plus manuals show a power switch but no voltage selector, and rate each printer at 100 to 240 V. Their power supplies adjust on their own.

One exception: a K1C owner in the UK reported on Creality’s forum that their unit had no voltage switch, only an empty hole where it would sit. If you can’t find a switch, read the rating label on the power supply before you plug in.

What should the switch be set to in the US?

Set it to 115 V. US outlets supply 120 V, inside the 100 to 120 V band the 115 V setting covers. Creality’s manuals give 230 V as the factory default, so check the switch on any new printer. Set it before you connect the power cord, as the manuals instruct.

Creality warns that a wrong setting can damage the printer. The 3D printer voltage switch article explains what each wrong setting does and how to check yours.

Can a K1 Max or K2 Plus run on a regular 120 V outlet?

Yes. Both are rated 100 to 240 V and need no switch. They draw more current than the Ender models: at 120 V, the K1 Max’s 1,000 W rating works out to 8.3 A and the K2 Plus’s 1,200 W to 10 A.

A long print counts as a continuous load, and the National Electrical Code (NEC) holds a continuous load to 80 percent of the breaker’s rating:

15 A circuit × 0.8 = 12 A for loads running 3 hours or more
K2 Plus at its 1,200 W rating: 10 A, leaving 2 A for everything else

Two amps is too little for a second printer or a space heater on the same breaker. The circuit capacity calculator adds up everything on the circuit, and how many amps a 3D printer uses covers outlets and circuits in more detail. Adding a circuit is a job for a licensed electrician.
